The Marriott Library is proud to announce iPods for checkout to students and staff through a federal grant made possible by The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

This new iPod service takes advantage of the device's mobility while maximizing its multimedia capabilities for an educational environment. At the core of the project are ten specially configured Apple Video iPods that can be checked out by students, staff, and faculity to view, listen, or read pre-loaded material anytime and anywhere.

Currently, these devices contain directed tours of the Marriott Library and the Marriott Library Multimedia Center [MMC]. For the future, we plan to collaborate with University staff, faculty, and departments or groups to develop and maintain additional content. Our goal is to eventually provide a wide variety of training support, special presentations, course lectures, texts, and other educational materials in the multiple formats supported by the iPod. We believe that with increased content there will be a subsequent increase in demand and we will be able to add to the overall number of iPods.

Over time, we hope the project will be seen by the University community as a viable teaching solution for their needs.
