Now that
you have iChat AV open and configured for use, please follow the steps
below to either Audio or Video Chat. Audio

How to Audio Chat
- If
you are using an iMac, your computer
has a built-in microphone and can be used for audio chatting
with other iChat AV users.
If you
are using an Internet Kiosk in the Marriott Libary Multimedia Center,
the microphone is situated on top of the monitor. If you
own a USB microphone, you can audio chat using any Mac in
the lab.
- To see
who else can who can 2-way audio chat with you, check your "Buddy
List" or "Bonjour" list. Those who can 2-way audio chat will have
a green "Phone" button next to their name. Click the green button to 2-way audio chat with
them.
- You can
chat with someone who does not have a microphone. They will
be able to hear your voice, but you won't be able to hear
them. To 1-way audio chat, select the user, then
from under "Buddies" in the menu
bar select "Invite to One-Way Audio Chat".

- A minimum
internet speed of 56K is recommended.
How to Video Chat
- If
your computer is equipped with an iSight, you can also 2-way and
1-way video chat, just like the audio chat. If
you own a webcam, you can video chat using any Mac in
the lab.

- To see
who else can who can 2-way video chat with you, check your "Buddy
List" or "Bonjour" list. Those who can 2-way video
chat will have a green "Camera" button next to their name.

the green button to 2-way video chat with them
- You can chat with someone who does not have a camera. They will
be able to see an hear you, but you won't be able to see or hear
them. To 1-way video chat, select the user, then from under "Buddies" in
the menu bar select "Invite to One-Way Video Chat".

- A minimum
internet speed of DSL or Cable is recommended.
