Instructions on Using:

Epson Scan

VueScan

Using Epson Scan:

Epson Scan is the default scanner program that comes with the Epson 1650 scanners on MMac 1-6 and the Epson 3490 on MMac-7.

  • To use it, simply open it from the desktop folder that is labeled “Scanner”.

  • If you are in Full-Auto mode, all you have to do is place your document face down in the scanner, and select SCAN.
Scanner Folder

  • It should bring up a file settings box. From there, select your image format as *.pdf

  • Make sure to look at all the available scanning and PDF options for your document.

  • After you have scanned the PDF file, Epson Scan will ask you if you are done or if you would like to scan another file – if you have more to scan, then proceed with another document.

  • Epson Scan will place all your following scans into the same PDF file, which can then be viewed in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

Epson Scan

Using VueScan:

VueScan is the other scanner program that comes with the Epson 1650 scanners on MMac 1-6 and the Epson 3490 on MMac 7. To use it, simply open it from the desktop folder that is labeled “Scanner”. VueScan provides MANY more settings for your scan, but make sure you know what you need for your document. For high quality images, scan in the highest DPI possible (Input Tab>More>Scan Resolution).

  • To use it, simply open it from the desktop folder that is labeled “Scanner”.

  • Once your document is loaded face down in the scanner, open VueScan and take a look at the Input settings.

Scanner Folder

  • Depending on what you are scanning, the Media, Media Size, and Quality options will vary. However, you NEED to select Source>Perfection1650 (or Perfection3490 if on MMac-7). If you are not scanning a transparency, make sure to set Mode>Flatbed.

  • Under the Output tab, make sure you select the PDF file check box. Then on the bottom select the More tab. This will reveal the PDF multi page option. Check that, too.

  • Then click Preview. Once the preview has been made, select the area of the document you wish to scan with the cursor and then click Scan.

  • After you have scanned the first document, remove it from the scanner, insert your next document, click Preview, make your selection, and Scan it. It will automatically be inserted into the same PDF as the first scanned document as long as the PDF multi-page option is checked.

Epson Scan

Epson Scan offers the ability to customize how it scans your document, but VueScan offers a wider range of settings for the finished product. It would be a good idea to be familiar with how most of the options in VueScan can affect your document. For basic information on what each of these settings controls & what options are available, please visit our separate pages :
