The iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 20-Inch Aluminum (Early 2009) features a 2.66 GHz Intel "Core 2 Duo" processor, with two independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 6 MB shared level 2 cache, a 1066 MHz system bus, 2 GB of RAM (1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM), a 320 GB (7200 RPM) hard drive, a vertically-mounted slot-loading DVD±R DL "SuperDrive", NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics with 256 MB of memory shared with the system, a built-in iSight video camera, and built-in stereo speakers underneath the 20" glossy TFT Active Matrix LCD (1680x1050 native) display.

The new iMac embodies Apple’s continuing environmental commitment. It is designed with the following features to reduce its environmental impact:

  • Arsenic-free display glass
  • BFR-free
  • PVC-free (internal cables)
  • Highly recyclable aluminum and glass enclosures
  • Meets ENERGY STAR Version 5.0 requirements
  • Rated EPEAT Gold

The Mac Pro "Quad Core" 2.66 (Early 2009/Nehalem) is powered by one 2.66 GHz Quad Core 45-nm Xeon W3520 (Nehalem) processor with a dedicated 256k of level 2 cache for each core and 8 MB of "fully shared" level 3 cache. By default, it is configured with 6 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM, a 640 GB (7200 RPM, 16 MB cache) 3Gb/s Serial ATA hard drive, an 18X dual-layer "SuperDrive" and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory.

    The first Intel-based tower Mac, the Mac Pro "Quad Core" 2.66 is powered by two 2.66 GHz dual core Intel Xeon 5150 processors with 4 MB of shared level 2 cache per processor, a 128-bit SSE3 vector engine, and 1.33 GHz "64-bit dual independent frontside buses." It is configured with 4.0 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 ECC "fully-buffered" FB-DIMM memory (with a heatsink design that is a bit different from generic FB-DIMMs), a 250 GB (7200 RPM) 3 Gb/s Serial ATA hard drive, a double-layer 16X "SuperDrive", and a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT video card with 256 MB of GDDR2 SDRAM, one dual-link DVI port and one single-link DVI port. Ports include dual Gigabit Ethernet, five USB 2.0 ports, two Firewire "400" ports, two Firewire "800" ports, and optical digital audio in/out, among others.
