Knowledge Commons Copyright Guidelines

It is illegal and unethical to copy copyrighted materials, including software, music or video. The collections of the Marriott Library, Knowledge Commons are copyrighted and therefore subject to copyright laws.

Patrons using materials from the Knowledge Commons collections, assume responsibility for using an item within the copyright guidelines. It is the policy of the Knowledge Commons that the counter consultants will not assist in the duplication of any material, so please do not ask.

In general, it is not a violation of copyright to use Knowledge Commons materials in a face-to-face teaching situation, where no admission fee is required. However, duplicating a work, charging admission for viewing or listening to a work, broadcasting or transforming a work into another format other than the original, may be a violation of copyright and permission from the copyright holder should be obtained before use.
